I’m an author and historian based in Charleston, SC. I grew up in a shtetl called Melbourne, Australia. I write about Holocaust survivors, socialists, and comedy (and occasionally, where some of those things intersect).
I’m a professor in Jewish Studies at the College of Charleston, where I teach classes on the Holocaust, on genocides, on modern Jewish history, and on comedy. This job allows me to rehearse my stand-up act every day. My students don’t find my jokes funny. Clearly, I need to practice more.
