The Holocaust and its legacy: identity, ideology, and race
As the Holocaust recedes further into the past, the question of how it has come to be remembered, how its stories have been passed down, and how it has shaped the world around us have become more pressing.
In their new books, Avril Alba and David Slucki raise questions about what role the Holocaust has played in the formulation of ideas and identity in the postwar world. In this talk, Avril and David will explore the legacy of the Holocaust through contrasting lenses: David will look at the Holocaust’s impact on one family, and Avril will explore its global implications. David and Avril will discuss how these approaches help us examine Holocaust history and the fate of the Jews in the twentieth century.
